What’s your personal celebration? You’re “unofficial holiday”.
Almost everyone celebrates something. Is it Pi Day (3.14)? Mario Day (Mar 10)? Super Bowl Sunday? May the Fourth? April 20?
Everyone has something they celebrate that is near and dear to them, and should be a holiday if they had their say.
Welcome to my holiday: July 17, Disneyland Day.
July 17, 1955 – Disneyland hosts its Media Preview, broadcast LIVE coast to coast on ABC, blemishes and all. Asphalt not set. Counterfeit tickets. Lost Microphones. Missed queues.
Seventy years later, Disneyland is still dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have helped create America while still being a source of joy and inspiration to all the world. Millions celebrate this park, and its sisters around the world, making the pilgrimage, the homecoming, to celebrate the park Walt built.
I’ll be celebrating my holiday, Disneyland Day, as I do every year. Watching my DVD copy of Dateline Disneyland – surprisingly STILL not available on Disney+. Or colorized. Topics for a different time…
Can’t be at the park? Don’t own a 25 year old DVD? Disney has posted many Disney attractions as a ride through Point of View on Disney+ that is worth the watch.
If this is your day, raise a Dole Whip Float or Mint Julep and celebrate with me. If another day is “your holiday”, celebrate it unashamedly. I’ll salute you for your passion and joy.
